If you grip Tibetan Singing Bowls in your palm, it stays free to vibrate. Then, you can gently rub a mallet across the side of it. This is what generates the singing sensation, often used for Tibetan meditation. You can also softly hit the side of the bowl. This generates a bell-like chord. Either style you use crystal singing bowls, it is the vibrations that make the sound, like if you press and slide your finger around the edge of a goblet. The pitch of the singing can be altered depending on the bowl depth. Bowls can be as wide as 4 to twelve inches. You can also increase the mallet speed to alter the sound.
